We had an enquiry today from a past student asking how long he had to complete his 2391-20 project...the answer is not long! Along with the 2391-10, final registrations for the 2391-20 are 31 July 2012, with the final written exam being December 2012. Therefore all 2391-20 projects need to be completed by the end of December 2012.
The 2391-20 has been replaced by the 2396-01 which is a Level 4 Qualification. The project length has increased from 22-44 hours and a higher level of maths is required to be successful in the written paper. This is all part of the drive to increase standards in the electrical industry.
Full details of the new 2396-01 course can be found on our website.

Surge Protective Devices
You may have noticed the
prominence given to surge protection in the latest version of the wiring regs.
This is alerting you to consider providing surge protection
on most of the new jobs that you do. The point being that without electricity, buildings are sent
straight back to the stone age. It only takes one big surge to permanently
damage fixed wiring insulation requiring it to be replaced – an expensive and
time consuming task.
It can only be a matter of time for the Insurance companies
to realise they can avoid paying out on voltage surge damage claims by
requiring SPDs to be fitted.
Loads of SPD info. in the regs.
